About This Example

This Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series is an exceptionally rare right-hand-drive example, being one of just 120 RHD cars ever produced. Originally supplied new to New Zealand, it was later imported to the UK, where it has remained in the care of its current owner since 2016. The owner is the second registered keeper in the UK and has cherished the car for the past nine years, ensuring it has been meticulously maintained and preserved to the highest standard.

Having only ever been driven in dry conditions, this Black Series presents in immaculate condition, with what is believed to be its original Obsidian Black paintwork, which remains in stunning order. The car retains its full Mercedes-Benz service history, with the most recent service completed within the last 100 miles, ensuring it is in peak mechanical condition.

Accompanying the car is a comprehensive history file, including the original service books and invoices, meticulously documenting its maintenance history—even tracing back to its early years in New Zealand. This is an exceptional opportunity to own one of the most collectible AMG models, combining rarity, performance, and a fully documented history.

About This Model

The Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series is one of AMG’s most celebrated and hardcore performance cars, combining brutal naturally aspirated V8 power, aggressive styling, and track-focused engineering. Based on the standard CLK 63 AMG, the Black Series took inspiration from the official Formula 1 Safety Car and was extensively reworked to deliver a raw, unfiltered driving experience.

At its heart is the world renowned 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 (M156), producing 507 horsepower. This hand-built AMG engine was the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 Mercedes had ever produced at the time. The power is sent to the rear wheels through a 7-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission. The Black Series can sprint from 0-60 mph in just 4.1 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 186 mph. The Black Series is a track-focused machine with no rear seats, stiffer suspension, and extensive weight-saving measures.

Mercedes significantly upgraded the chassis, with adjustable coilover suspension, a wider track, and a limited-slip differential to improve grip and cornering stability. The carbon fibre wide-body fenders not only give it an aggressive stance but also accommodate wider, high-performance tires for improved handling.

The CLK 63 AMG Black Series features an aggressive, race-inspired design that instantly sets it apart from the standard CLK models. The wide-body carbon fibre wheel arches, large carbon fibre rear diffuser, vented front bumper, and rear lip spoiler all contribute to improved aerodynamics and cooling. The car sits lower and wider, emphasising its menacing presence on the road.

The CLK 63 AMG Black Series represents the golden era of AMG—before turbocharging and hybridisation took over. With its naturally aspirated 6.2L V8, brutal sound, and pure mechanical feel, it delivers an old-school, analog driving experience that modern performance cars struggle to replicate. Often considered a spiritual predecessor to the AMG Black Series models that followed, the CLK 63 AMG Black Series remains one of the most hardcore and collectible AMG cars ever made.
